The first 186 tons of grain in the United States have been harvested with TORUM

Rotary harvester manufactured by Rostselmash is taking part in thrashing of new harvest grain of 2011 year in the USA. For the first harvest day TORUM 760 used at 5 km from the city of Columbus (State Indiana) has shown excellent results and thrashed 186 tons of wheat for 9 hours with capacity 21 tons per hour.

Innovative harvester TORUM was started to be produced in 2009. It is based on fundamentally new rotary thrashing separating device Advanced Rotor System, which differs from existing rotary schemes in a beater feeder, variable ratio drive and rotating rotor cage. This scheme virtually eliminates blocking of thrashing device for difficult agricultural backgrounds and significantly increases performance.

This year Rostselmash produced three rotary harvesters TORUM 760 special for North-American market. They are manufactured in three versions: serial, all-wheel-drive and half-track unit. Its tank is increased up to 12 m3; the cabin is equipped with climate control system, and thrashing separating devices are equipped with mechanism of sieve power adjustment and straw and chaff spreaders. In order to comply with environmental requirements for exhaust emissions, TORUM 760 is equipped with new series engines Cummins QSX-11.9 (TIER IV i).

Throughout the season the machines will be followed and supported by test engineers of Rostselmash and specialist of its associated company Buhler (Canada). Their purposes include not only technical support of machines but also collection of complete information about their operation for further promotion of TORUM. Experts analyzing the situation in agricultural equipment market consider that TORUM has a good potential for it: the last year two harvesters already passed tests with positive results, which are specified in the record.

In 2010 two TORUMs operated in Canada in four farms from the end of July that was highly evaluated not only by agricultural production specialists, but also by farmers themselves. For example, farmer Kelly Maloney mentioned high productivity of the harvester and minimum loss, and Jeff Mathieson — used pneumatic system, which gives the harvester additional benefits. Roland Kirchner mentioned that TORUM is very easy to operate due to minimum set of buttons on the control panel, and Chris Chandler mentioned powerful and energy efficiency engine. All four positively evaluated a stylish design of Rostselmash harvesters, which distinguishes them from conventional harvesters of other manufacturers.

According to experts, in the coming season Rostselmash has to strengthen its position. The results of the first days show that this minimum program is feasible.
